Things I’m Thankful For This Holiday Season: A note from the owner
As we step into this season of thankfulness, I’ve been reflecting on all the things that make life richer—especially the role The SALT has played in my year. Launching this space has been an incredible journey, and I couldn’t be more grateful for the experiences and connections that have come with it.
1. The Power of Connection
There’s something uniquely motivating about working alongside people who share similar goals, challenges, and passions. The atmosphere at The SALT is always buzzing with ideas, encouragement, and creativity. Whether it’s a quick chat in the kitchen or a spontaneous brainstorming session, I’m constantly reminded of how much we can learn and grow from those around us. These connections have become a core part of my workday and my journey.
2. Flexibility and Freedom
The freedom to work with my terms, in an environment that adapts, has been a game-changer. With private offices, collaborative areas, and a media room, The SALT lets each of us choose what suits us best on any given day. It’s a rare gift to have a workspace that recognizes that creativity needs room to breathe. The flexibility here has allowed me to do my best work while feeling supported and inspired.
3. North Kitsap’s Best
Living in this beautiful part of the world, where mountains meet the sea, never loses its charm. One of my favorite benefits of opening The SALT has been the steady stream of recommendations from members. Every conversation seems to lead to a fun place to explore—whether it’s a cozy café in Poulsbo, a hidden gem store, or a breathtaking hiking trail. The SALT is more than a workspace; it’s a gateway to discovering the heart of North Kitsap.
Here are a few favorites of mine that have been discovered thanks to this wonderful community. These local spots make great picks for holiday gifts, too:
The Saucy Sailor – for that delicious take-out meal that always hits the spot. Located in downtown Kingston
Saltwater Bookshop in Kingston – I always end up walking out with a new surprise.
Ty’s Wine and Brew – a new local hybrid tavern and bottle shop serving wine.
The Rabbit Hole on Bainbridge – located in downtown Winslow below Sandy’s Barbershop you can expect to find plants, vintage pieces, DIY classes, gifts, paints, repurposed items and furnishings.
4. A Supportive Community
Since opening in May, this marks The SALT’s first holiday season in action, and I’m incredibly thankful for the community that’s made it possible. From members cheering on each other’s projects to our staff who truly care, The SALT has become a place where support and encouragement thrive. It’s a place where we all lift each other up, and that’s something truly special.
This holiday season, I’m reminded of how lucky I am to be part of a place that values learning and growing together. Here’s to many more years of serving and learning together at The SALT!
